1. Board Books
Definition: Thick cardboard constructed books intended for the youngest reading audience, typically 0-3 years old.
Features:

Cf.: types of pop-up book. These are books that have some interactivity in them. By pushing, pulling, and sliding some tabs, parts of the story or illustrations are hidden or revealed
Features.

Interactivity: gets children moving, develops their hand-eye coordination.
Content: Surprise or changes are often found in the stories when the flaps move, making reading dynamic.
Purpose: Curiosity, exploration while reinforcing concepts through tactile learning.
3. Sound Books
Definition: These books are the next best thing to an interactive book since it has buttons fitted into the book that when pressed will play sounds, music, or spoken words.
Features:

Auditory Engagement: There are a great many number of sounds found which are relevant to the story or theme of the book, for example, animal noises, musical tunes, and voices of characters.
Content: stories or themes are enriched with sound components, ranging from a simple beeping to full songs.
Purposes: Assists in auditory identification and has a potential of facilitating storytelling with an additional sensory component.
4. Cloth Books
Definition: Soft books made out of cloth, designed for babies, toddlers
Features:
Soft: babies may safely chew and cuddle them; machine washable.
Content: The simplest images or patterns, sometimes some crinkly pages or squeakers inside to add some sensory interest.
Purpose: Introduce books to the youngest readers in a format that is safe, and gentle. Encourage tactile exploration and early literacy.
5. Bath Books
Definition: A waterproof book designed to be used during bath time.
Features:

Waterproof Material: Made of plastic or vinyl, it makes them float and allows them to be resistant to water.
Content: Often features themes related to water, such as sea creatures or bath toys, with simple, bold illustrations.

6. Pop-Up Books
Definition: Pop-up books are books that contain three-dimensional paper engineering; the process, when opened, makes parts of the illustrations stand up, such that they pop up from the page.

Definition: these are books whose page employs materials of differing textures which the children can be able to touch and feel.
Features:

Sensory Learning: The textures can simulate fur, fabric, sandpaper, or other surfaces it.
Pattern: Often concentrates on animals, objects, or environments where the textures reflect the actual feel.
Benefit: It contributes to sensory development and object recognition leading to interactive reading; children can associate words with the actual feel of several objects.
