Children's Day Class Gifts: What to Send for 30 Kids Under ₹150 Each

Sending something for the whole class on Children's Day? Here is what works for 30 kids under ₹150 each, the real totals, what to skip and when to order.

It starts with a message on the class WhatsApp group: "Shall we all send something for the kids on Children's Day?" Twenty thumbs-up later, somebody (usually the class rep, usually a mom) is in charge of buying Children's Day gifts for students, 30 of them, at about ₹150 each.

If that somebody is you, here is the honest answer. At ₹150 a child, buy one small useful thing per child, the same for everyone, and skip the bag of plastic bits.

Children's Day 2026 is Saturday, 14 November, the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru (PM India). So most schools will celebrate on Friday the 13th or in the week before.

The short answer Check with the class teacher first. Then pick one non-food item under ₹150, the same for every child, and order two extra. A Build & Play Sharpener or an iron-on patch costs ₹129 each, which is ₹3,870 for a class of 30. Order by about 26 October if anything is personalised.

First, check three things with the class teacher

Before you spend a rupee, send the teacher a short message. It saves you from buying 30 of something the school will not allow.

1. Are class gifts allowed?

Some schools prefer no gifts, or only items given through the school. Ask first.

2. Any food rules?

Many schools discourage sweets and packaged snacks, and allergies make food risky for a group of 30. A non-food gift avoids the problem.

3. How many children, exactly?

Ask for the final count including new joiners, and order two extra. Somebody always gets left out otherwise, and it is always the quiet kid.

How to split the cost without awkwardness

Money on a parents' group can get uncomfortable fast. A clear plan up front keeps it friendly.

  • Fix a per-child contribution (say ₹150) and share the plan and the total on the group before ordering.
  • Ask parents to pay by UPI to one person, and post a screenshot of the order once it is placed.
  • Keep a small buffer for the two extra gifts and any price change.
  • If a family cannot contribute, do not chase them in the group. Their child gets the gift like everyone else.

Children's Day gifts for students under ₹150

These are the options on our store that come in under ₹150 per child. Prices checked on our store on 13 October 2026.

1. Build & Play Sharpener, ₹129 each

A pencil sharpener with building blocks that make a helicopter, or a truck, for ₹129. One piece per pack, and the colour is random, which kids treat as a lucky dip.

It works for boys and girls. It is useful in the pencil box every day, and it is a toy for the first ten minutes.

For 30 kids: 30 x ₹129 = ₹3,870.

2. Funky iron-on patch, ₹129 per design

Iron-on patches come in designs like a smiley dino, a crown, a football, a rainbow and a dolphin, 4 to 6 cm each. Each child takes one home to put on a T-shirt, jeans or a bag.

A parent does the ironing, from the reverse side of the fabric.

Tip: let the kids choose. Post the designs on the class group and let each parent reply with their child's pick. It takes one evening and makes 30 identical gifts feel personal.

For 30 kids: 30 x ₹129 = ₹3,870.

3. Add a name tag from your child (optional)

If the gift is from your child, or from the class, a personalised gift tag sticker on each packet makes it look finished. A pack is ₹329 for 12 tags, each 2 x 2.5 inches, in waterproof vinyl.

Themes include Zootii, space, dinosaurs and flowers. Gift tags are for packets and paper, not for clothes or bags.

For 30 gifts you need 3 packs (36 tags), which is ₹987, or about ₹33 per child.

Sharpener or patch plus a tag, for 30 kids: ₹3,870 + ₹987 = ₹4,857, about ₹162 per child. If ₹150 is a hard ceiling, skip the tags and write names by hand.

What to skip for a class gift

  • Plastic goodie bags. Ten tiny things, nine of them in the bin by Monday. The one-thing approach costs about the same, and parents notice the difference.
  • Sweets and chocolates. School rules and allergies, plus every other parent had the same idea.
  • Anything with small parts for very young classes. For nursery and KG, check the age on the product. A sharpener with building blocks is better for Class 1 and up.
  • Different gifts for boys and girls. It creates a sorting job for the teacher and a "why did she get that?" moment. Keep it the same for everyone, or let each child choose from the same list.

The free option

Not every class wants to spend, and that is fine. A handmade card from each child to a classmate costs nothing and teaches something better than any gift.

Draw names from a box, like Secret Santa. Pair it with a single shared treat organised by the school, and you are done.

When to order for 14 November

Personalised items, like the gift tags, take 8 to 12 working days to arrive. Diwali (8 November) and Bhai Dooj (11 November) fall inside that window, so order by about 26 October.

Even for non-personalised items like the sharpeners and patches, order early if you need 30 of the same thing.

Tip: when the parcel arrives, count the pieces against the class list the same day. If anything is short, you still have time to fix it.
