Diwali Gift Ideas for Family: One List, From the Kids to Nani
Diwali gift ideas for the whole family, person by person: nieces, nephews, teen cousins, siblings who travel, parents and the relative who has everything, with real prices and three family budgets.
Somewhere in every Indian family, in October, someone opens the Notes app and types a list called "Diwali". It starts with five names. By the end of the week it has fourteen: the kids, the cousins, Mummy and Papa, the in-laws, the brother who lives in Pune and visits twice a year, his wife, and the bua who will be hurt if she's forgotten and won't say so.
And most years the answer to that list is the same: fourteen boxes of dry fruit. Nobody minds. Nobody remembers either.
If you're searching for Diwali gift ideas for family, you've seen the lists. Bedsheets, candles, a cookware set. Fine for one household. No help when you're buying for a six-year-old, a sixteen-year-old and a sixty-eight-year-old in the same week, on one budget.
So here's how we'd do it. One list, person by person, with real prices from our store and the reasoning behind each pick. We're a kids' brand, so the children get the most attention, but the grown-ups aren't left with a mithai box.
The short answer Split the family into three groups: the kids, the ones who travel, and the ones who "have everything". Give kids something with their name on it that they'll use at school, give travellers a luggage tag, and give the have-everything relatives something small and personal rather than big and generic. Most of the picks below cost ₹289 to ₹999. Personalised orders take 8 to 12 working days, so order by about 20 October for Diwali on 8 November 2026.
How to plan Diwali gifts for the whole family
Sort the list first. Ten minutes now saves the "what do I get Mama-ji" panic at 11 pm on Dhanteras.
Group 1: the kids
Nieces, nephews, cousins' children, your own. They want something that's obviously theirs. A name on it does that better than a bigger price tag ever will.
Group 2: the ones who travel
The brother who flies home for Diwali. The in-laws who do a yatra every winter. The cousin who just moved to Bengaluru. Anyone who checks in a bag a few times a year.
Group 3: the ones who have everything
Parents, older aunts and uncles, the relative with a cupboard full of unopened gift sets. Here, smaller and more personal beats bigger and generic. Every time.
Then give each group a rough budget per head. We'd suggest about ₹300 for the long list of cousins, ₹500 to ₹1,000 for the kids we're close to, and the most for parents and grandparents. Write the number next to each name. It stops you overspending on the first three people and panicking on the last five.

Write the budget next to each name before you buy anything. It's the cheapest ten minutes of Diwali.
Diwali gift ideas for every person in the family
Every price below was checked on our store on 16 October 2026.
| Who | Our pick | Price | Why it works |
|---|---|---|---|
| Niece, 5 to 10 | Name hair clips, pack of 2 | ₹299 | Her name, worn every day |
| Nephew, 5 to 10 | Cricket name bag tag | ₹289 | Still on the school bag in March |
| Teen cousin | Clicker bag charm with initials | ₹396 | Looks good, and it clicks |
| Sibling who travels | Peacock luggage tag or Chess Knight | ₹289 | Spots their bag on the belt first |
| Parents, in-laws | Krishna name tag or Ganesha | ₹289 | For the yatra bag |
| The one who has everything | Reusable metal pen-pencils, pack of 2 | ₹499 | For the crossword and the shopping list |
| The child you're closest to | Little Miss Stylish Hamper or a name water bottle | ₹799 / ₹999 | A proper "big" gift |
Here's the thinking behind each one.
For nieces: clips with her name on them
Our name hair clips come in a pack of 2, both printed with one name of up to 8 characters, in prints like Candy Stripe, Rainbow and Polka Dots. They're the gift that gets worn to the next family function, which is exactly where the giver sees them. If she's under 3, skip clips; small hard pieces aren't for toddlers.
For nephews: a bag tag he'll actually keep on
A transparent silicone tag, 9 x 5.5 cm, waterproof, printed with his name and a design he picks: cricket, superbike, monster truck, space. Boys this age don't want "something cute". They want the bag that's obviously theirs in a pile of thirty identical ones.
For teen cousins: a bag charm, not a "kids' gift"
Thirteen-year-olds can smell a gift meant for a younger child. The clicker bag charm has two chunky initial tiles on a beaded chain that click when you press them. It's half accessory, half fidget, and it clips onto a college bag as easily as a school one. For a name instead of initials, our candy name bag charm (₹439) strings up to 8 letters with a little poodle or headphones charm on the end.
IN: initials on a bag charm / OUT: another chocolate box for a 15-year-old
For siblings and their partners: luggage tags
This is the grown-up gift we'd pick first. Everyone in the family flies or takes the train home for Diwali at some point, and every black suitcase on the belt looks the same. Our transparent tags are the same 9 x 5.5 cm waterproof silicone as the kids' ones, with a name printed on. The Peacock and Chess Knight designs are the ones adults pick. Get two, one for each of them.
For parents and in-laws: a name tag for the yatra bag
The Krishna and Ganesha designs suit grandparents who travel for darshan or the winter family visit. Small gift. But it gets used, and it beats a sticky-taped label in Papa's handwriting.
For the one who has everything
Our reusable metal pen-pencils come in a pack of 2, in assorted pastel colours. They write like a pencil with a replaceable graphite nib, so there's no sharpening and no ink. We like them for the grandparent who does the newspaper crossword every morning, or the aunt who still writes the grocery list by hand.

Three family Diwali budgets, added up
If you'd rather start from a total, here are three ways to do a family of roughly six to eight people. Prices are from our store on 16 October 2026.

| Budget | What goes in | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Around ₹2,000 | Name clips ₹299 + Cricket bag tag ₹289 + clicker charm ₹396 + Krishna tag ₹289 + Peacock tag ₹289 + Diwali gift tags ₹329 | ₹1,891 |
| Around ₹3,500 | Little Miss Stylish Hamper ₹799 + name water bottle ₹999 + candy name charm ₹439 + metal pen-pencils ₹499 + two luggage tags ₹578 | ₹3,314 |
| Around ₹5,000 | Bento lunch box ₹1,299 + Psy tote ₹999 + Little Lady Hamper ₹899 + metal pen-pencils ₹499 + muslin handkerchiefs ₹523 + two luggage tags ₹578 | ₹4,797 |
The ₹2,000 plan includes a sheet of our Diwali gift tags: 12 waterproof name stickers, 2 x 2.5 inches, in Colourful, Rangoli or Art designs. One sheet labels the whole family's gifts, so nobody opens the wrong box.
Tip: put the whole family in one order. It's one delivery to track instead of eight, and anything above ₹399 ships free.
A few things we'd skip
- Guessing a spelling. Is it Aarav or Arav? Riya or Reeya? Check on the family WhatsApp group before you order. A name gift with the wrong spelling is worse than no name at all.
- The same gift for everyone. It's tempting to order eight of one thing. The kids will compare. Vary the design at least.
- Small parts for toddlers. Clips, charms and small stickers aren't for children under 3. For the baby of the family, a picture book or a pack of soft muslin handkerchiefs (₹523 for 3) is safer.
- Leaving it to the last week. Personalised gifts are made to order. Ordering on 2 November won't get you there for the 8th.
