Diwali Gift Hampers Under ₹500 for Kids: 6 Combos With Real Prices
Six Diwali gift hampers for kids under Rs 500, priced item by item from real products, plus how to pack ten at once, what to leave out for toddlers and when to order for 8 November.
If you live in a building society, you already know the Diwali list. Your own kids. The cousins. The two little girls on the fourth floor. Your house help's son, who has been asking about crackers since September. Suddenly you need eight small gifts, not one, and you'd like each to cost less than a box of kaju katli.
That's what most people mean when they search for Diwali gift hampers under ₹500. Not one fancy basket, but several small ones that still feel thought through. The trouble is that the ready-made ones at this price are mostly dry fruit, chocolate and a diya, which is lovely for grown-ups and gone in two days for a child.
So we priced it out. Below are six hampers for kids built from things on our store, each one adding up to under ₹500 with the actual numbers shown, plus how to pack ten at once and when to order for 8 November.
The short answer Pick one thing they'll use after Diwali (a game, crayons, a clip, a bag tag), add one small extra, and keep the total between ₹250 and ₹500. For under-5s skip anything with small parts. Personalised items take 8 to 12 working days, so order by about 20 October for Diwali on Sunday 8 November 2026.
What makes a good Diwali hamper under ₹500 for a child?
A ₹500 hamper can't compete with a ₹2,000 one on size. It wins on fit. A seven-year-old doesn't care how big the box is. She cares whether the thing inside is for her.
Three rules do most of the work.
One "main" thing they'll use after Diwali
A car-ride game, a set of crayons, a clip with her name, a tag for his school bag. If it's still in use in December, the hamper did its job.
One small extra, not five
Filler is where budget hampers go wrong. Six tiny plastic toys feel generous for a minute and end up under the sofa. Two good things beat six forgettable ones.
Their name on the outside
When you're handing out eight bags at a society party, a name tag on each one saves the "whose is this?" scramble. It also makes a ₹400 bag look like you planned it, because you did.

A ₹500 hamper can't win on size. It wins on fit.
Six Diwali gift hampers under ₹500, with real prices
Every price below is from our store, checked on 15 October 2026. Totals are just the items added together; shipping is free on orders above ₹399.

| Hamper | Best for | What goes in | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Name in her hair | Girls 5 to 10 | Breakfast name hair clips, pack of 2 ₹229 + Flower iron-on patch ₹129 + Build and Play helicopter sharpener ₹129 | ₹487 |
| 2. The car-ride hamper | Ages 3 to 6 | ISPY At the Mall game ₹279 + Twisty crayons, set of 12 ₹199 | ₹478 |
| 3. The little artist | Ages 3 to 8 | 3D stickers, Adventure pack of 9 ₹299 + Twisty crayons ₹199 | ₹498 |
| 4. The Diwali story hamper | Read-aloud, any age | Shlokas Made Easy: Ganesha's Names ₹199 + Krishna's Story ₹199 | ₹398 |
| 5. Ganesha on the school bag | Ages 5 to 10 | Personalised Ganesha bag tag ₹289 + Build and Play truck sharpener ₹129 | ₹418 |
| 6. The ₹300 mini | Ages 5 and up | Iron-on patch ₹129 + Build and Play sharpener ₹129 | ₹258 |
A few honest notes on each.
1. Name in her hair (₹487)
The Breakfast clips come as a pair, both printed with one name of up to 8 characters. The patch irons on to a denim jacket or a pencil pouch. The sharpener snaps into a little helicopter, which is the bit that gets shown off in class. The sharpener has small parts and is meant for children over 5, so this one is for school-age girls.
2. The car-ride hamper (₹478)
ISPY is a wipe-clean board with reusable stickers: the child hunts for the pictured things and marks them off. It's 8 x 5.5 inches, weighs 100 g and is made for ages 3 to 6, so it fits in a handbag for the long drive to Nani's. The crayons twist up, so there's no sharpening in the back seat.
3. The little artist (₹498)
Nine raised, waterproof stickers in a few sizes (the largest is 7 x 6 cm) and twelve twist crayons. It's the closest to "a hamper that keeps a child busy on Diwali afternoon" that we can get under ₹500.
4. The Diwali story hamper (₹398)
Two picture books from our Shlokas Made Easy series: the twelve names of Ganesha, and stories from Krishna's life, each with a simple Sanskrit shloka and its English meaning. Good for the Lakshmi Puja evening, when grandparents want to tell the stories anyway.
Tip: this one totals ₹398, a rupee short of free shipping. Put it in the same order as another hamper, or add a ₹129 patch and it ships free.
5. Ganesha on the school bag (₹418)
A transparent silicone bag tag, 9 x 5.5 cm, printed with Ganesha and the child's name. It's waterproof and goes straight onto the school bag, so it's still working in March.
And the ₹300 mini is for the long list: the watchman's kids, the tuition class, cousins you'll see for ten minutes.

How to pack ten hampers in half an hour
Pricing is the easy part. Packing is where Diwali evenings disappear. Here's the living-room assembly line.

- Write the list first. Name, age and which hamper number. Ten minutes now saves the 9 pm "did we forget Riya?" moment.
- Lay out the bags in a row. Plain paper bags or small boxes you already have at home are fine. One bag per name.
- Drop in the main thing, then the extra. Do all the main items first, all the extras second. It's faster than finishing one bag at a time.
- Tag before you tie. Stick the name tag on before the ribbon goes on, so nothing gets swapped.
- Keep two spares. Somebody always brings a cousin you didn't know about.
For step 4 we use our Diwali gift tags: 12 waterproof name stickers, 2 x 2.5 inches, in Colourful, Rangoli or Art designs, for ₹329. One sheet covers a whole society's worth of hampers, which works out to about ₹27 a bag.
What to leave out for toddlers
If a hamper is going to a child under 3, change the contents, not just the wrapping. The Raising Children Network treats anything smaller than a 20-cent coin as a choking risk, and its list includes crayons, beads, stickers and small toy parts.
- Skip the sharpeners (made for over-5s) and the stickers.
- Skip hair clips for babies; small clips and their springs aren't for unsupervised little ones.
- Skip whole nuts and hard sweets in the food part of the hamper.
- Pick a board book or picture book instead. Hamper 4, the Diwali story hamper, works for a toddler if a grown-up does the reading.
For under-3s, change what's inside, not just the wrapping.
Want one bigger hamper instead?
Our ready-made girls' hampers start above this budget: the Little Miss Stylish Hamper (4 name clips and a bag charm) is ₹799, and the full range is in our gift boxes.
