Personalised Diwali Hampers for Kids: A Gift Picker by Age and Budget (2026)

A Diwali hamper for a child should outlast the mithai. Here is how to build one by age and budget, with real prices, an order-by date for 2026 and a short safety checklist.

It is the Monday after Diwali. Your daughter walks into class with a clip in her hair that has her name on it. The first thing she tells her best friend is not about the crackers. It is "Maasi gave me this."

That is what a good Diwali gift does. The kaju katli is gone by Bhai Dooj. The chocolate box is empty by Tuesday. But the thing with their name on it goes to school, comes home and goes to school again. All year it quietly says: someone thought about me.

The gift is the small part. The moment is what they keep. Illustrative image.

This guide helps you build that kind of personalised Diwali hamper for kids: by age, by budget, with real prices, an order-by date for Diwali 2026 and a safety checklist for the night itself.

The short answer For ages 2 to 4, pick something for their hair or bag and something soft. For 5 to 8, add one thing they can show off at school. For 9 to 12, choose one useful "grown-up" item. Keep the sweets to one small box. Diwali is on Sunday 8 November 2026, so order personalised gifts by about 20 October.

What goes into a good personalised Diwali hamper for kids?

The hampers that children still use in January share four things.

The Diwali hamper formula for kids: one hero item, one show-off item, one small sweet and one Diwali touch, with their name on at least one
The Diwali hamper formula. Save it, or send it to whoever is doing the shopping.

1. One thing with their name on it

A name turns "a gift" into "my gift". It also stops the cousins fighting over whose is whose.

2. Something they use after Diwali

A hair clip worn to school on Monday. A bottle in the school bag. A charm on the zip. These are the gifts that keep showing up.

A hamper that disappears in a day was a snack, not a gift.

3. The right size for small hands

Toddlers want bright and soft. Eight-year-olds want what their friends will notice. Twelve-year-olds want nothing that looks "babyish".

4. One small sweet, not five

Most homes already have more mithai than anyone can finish. One small box, ideally homemade, is plenty.

Diwali hamper picker by age

All prices below are from our store, checked on 13 October 2026. Personalised items take a name of up to 8 characters.

Diwali hamper picker by age: picks and prices for 2 to 4, 5 to 8 and 9 to 12 year olds, checked 13 October 2026
Three age groups, four picks each, real prices.

Ages 2 to 4: bright, soft and theirs

At this age, a gift is something to hold and point at. Start with name hair clips, pack of 2 (₹299) or a dinosaur shape bag tag (₹339). To spoil them, the Little Miss Stylish Hamper is ₹799 and a pastel backpack with their name is ₹1,199.

Ages 5 to 8: something to show off on Monday

This is the age of "look what I got". A clicker bag charm with their initials (₹396) or a name bag charm (₹439) fits under ₹500. The Rainbow Diva (₹799) and Little Lady (₹899) hampers sit in the middle. The Glam Girl Hamper (₹1,499) or a bento lunch box (₹1,299) is the big one.

Ages 9 to 12: useful, never babyish

Pre-teens notice when a gift is "for kids". Go practical. A name bag charm (₹439) or clicker charm (₹396) still works. In the middle, the Psy holographic tote is ₹999 and name hair clips, pack of 4 are ₹550. At the top, a bento and bottle combo is ₹2,199 and the Smart Kids school bag is ₹1,999.

A hamper for boys he will not be embarrassed to open

Most "personalised hamper" pages are pink. For boys, a clicker charm, a dinosaur or cars bag tag, a space or football water bottle (₹999) and a bento box make a hamper he will happily open in front of his cousins.

How much to spend per child

You do not need a big budget to give a gift with their name on it. Here is what each option costs per child.

Bar chart of personalised Diwali gift cost per child, from about Rs 200 per girl for the Kanjak Hamper to Rs 2,000 for the Diwali Hamper Box
Cost per child, lowest to highest. The Kanjak Hamper is ₹1,199 for six named pairs, so about ₹200 per girl.

Under ₹500 buys one personalised item they will use every day: clips, a bag tag or a charm.

₹500 to ₹1,000 buys a ready-made hamper in a gift box, or a personalised steel bottle.

₹1,000 and up is for the one child you want to spoil: a niece, a godchild, your own.

Tip: buying for several children? One personalised piece each beats a big hamper for one and nothing for the others. Children compare.

Four ready-made hampers, compared

If you would rather not build one, these four arrive in a printed gift box. You type the name once, and it goes on every personalised piece. Swipe to see what is inside.

Hamper What is inside Price Best for
Rainbow Diva 2 name clips, a rainbow name bag tag, a beaded name charm ₹799 A first school year, 3 to 6
Little Miss Stylish 4 name clips (2 pairs), a beaded name bag charm ₹799 The girl who loses one clip a week
Little Lady 4 name clips, 3 cotton handkerchiefs ₹899 Toddlers and preschoolers
Glam Girl 6 name clips in 3 designs, a bag charm, a sheet of unicorn name labels ₹1,499 A niece or goddaughter you want to spoil

All four are on our gift boxes page.

Build your own Diwali hamper box

We also have a Diwali Hamper Box for Girls and a Diwali Hamper Box for Boys, at ₹2,000 each (13 October). You choose the items and we pack them in festive wrapping. The product page says hampers are dispatched within 4 to 5 days of order confirmation.

Building one at home instead? This simple formula works:

  1. One hero item that gets used daily: a bottle, tiffin or bag.
  2. One show-off item for school on Monday: name clips or a charm.
  3. One small sweet, ideally homemade.
  4. One Diwali touch: a diya they decorate themselves, or a small story book. Our Shlokas Made Easy: Ganesha's Names (₹199) is not personalised, but it fits the evening when Ganesha is worshipped with Lakshmi.
  5. Their name on the outside. A set of 12 Diwali gift tags (₹329) saves writing names on twenty boxes.

Diwali party for six girls? Reuse the Kanjak Hamper

If you bought one for Kanya Pujan, you already know it. The Kanjak Hamper is six pairs of hair clips, each pair printed with a different girl's name, for ₹1,199. That is about ₹200 per girl. It works just as well for six nieces at a Diwali card party or six girls at a building get-together.

Diwali night safety checklist for kids

A gift guide that ignores the night itself is only half useful. Share this with whoever is in charge of the crackers.

Diwali night safety checklist for kids with eight steps, from cotton clothes to first aid for minor burns
Forward this card to the family group before the first cracker.
  • Dress children in cotton, not synthetics, near diyas and crackers.
  • Keep a bucket of water and a bucket of sand ready before the first cracker.
  • Adults light every cracker. Children watch from a distance.
  • Put diyas on a steady plate, away from curtains, dupattas and rangoli powder.
  • Hold small hands near lamps and in crowds.
  • Keep babies and pets indoors during loud bursts.
  • At a crowded mela or society event, put a card with your phone number in your child's pocket.
  • For a minor burn, cool it under cool running water for 20 minutes. No ice, butter or toothpaste. This is the NHS advice for burns and scalds. For anything more than a small burn, go to a hospital.

Years from now, they will not remember the sweets. They might remember the clip with their name on it, and who gave it to them.
