Unique Personalised Gifts for Kids in India, by Budget
Unique personalised gifts for kids in India, by budget: real live prices from Rs 299 to Rs 439, a spelling check before ordering, and what to skip.
Picture a school bag at the end of a Friday. Two water bottles that look exactly like the ones on the next bench, a tiffin lid with no name on it, a pencil case that came home with somebody else's eraser. Most families at the school gate have some version of this, and a name on the right item is the simplest fix we know.
That's why so many parents search for unique personalised gifts for kids in India. They want something that is theirs, that the child will actually use, and that doesn't look like it came off a shelf at a mall. The catch is that a name is harder to get right than it looks. So here's what we've learned from the orders we ship, the questions our team answers, and what Adi says when people ask him what to buy.
The short answer The personalised gifts kids love most are the ones they use every day: a name-printed bag tag, a clothes sticker set, a clicker bag charm with two initials, or book labels for school books. In our range they start at Rs 289, and most sets sit between Rs 300 and Rs 400. Check the spelling before you order, and write to us early if the gift has a date attached.
Why a name on a gift is harder than it looks
Adi's view on this is blunt. A name written by hand is not written properly every time. A label, a bottle or a book cover depends on who held the marker, how fast they were going and whether the name fit the space. A long name squeezed onto the edge of a small label can look crowded by the time it reaches the classroom, and nobody notices until the child does.
So most of what we'd recommend is printed rather than hand-written. Print comes out the same every time. A child who sees their name looking the same on the bottle, the bag and the book label starts to know which things are theirs, and that matters more than it sounds.
What makes a personalised item worth buying
Adi's rule is that a personalised item earns its place when it helps a child find and sort their things, and it matters most where everything looks the same. Think about a classroom with a row of identical bottles or a shelf of pencil cases in the same colour. The name is what makes one of them theirs.
That's how we thought about the range. We looked at what actually goes missing in a school bag, and the answer wasn't the big things. It was bottles, lids, straps, small stationery and the sweater with no name. So we kept the focus on small items you can personalise, rather than on pieces that only look nice on a shelf. The thing almost nobody mentions is that the cheapest item on the list is often the one that comes back.
Five ideas by budget, at live prices
These are the items we'd start with, priced on our store on 22 October. Prices can change, so check the product page before you order.

Around Rs 300: bag tags
Our customised bag tags are Rs 299 and come in a long list of designs, including unicorn, dino, rocket and mermaid. They're made from waterproof silicone, about 9 by 5.5 cm, and you give us the name to print. If a child carries a school bag and a sports bag, this is the cheapest way to tell them apart at a glance. The bag tags collection has the rest.
Our transparent luggage tags start at Rs 289 across a wide range of designs, which makes them the lowest-priced personalised item we sell.
Rs 300 to Rs 350: labels and stickers
Transparent name labels with the child's name run Rs 333 for a pack of 8 stickers, each about 3 by 3 cm. Book labels, for school books and notebooks, are Rs 329. Personalised clothes stickers are Rs 349. We'd put the clothes stickers on the things that disappear in the wash, like socks, sports kit and the cardigan that never comes back from the bus. The stickers and labels collection has the full set.
Rs 390 to Rs 400: bag charms and writable tags
The personalised clicker bag charm is Rs 396 and comes in blue or pink. It has two initials on chunky letter tiles on a beaded chain, and the tiles click when you press them. It's the gift we'd pick for a child who fidgets in class, and it clips onto a bag in a second. The writable bag tags in rainbow come as a pack of 2 for Rs 399.
Above Rs 400: a custom name charm
Our personalised candy bag charm is Rs 439 and is the most personal item on this list. It works best as a birthday gift, because a charm is something a child chooses to show off rather than something the school asks for.

The spelling trap
The mistake we see most often has nothing to do with the product. Parents type a name the way they say it at home, and the school register spells it another way. Or they type the initials in a hurry and only notice when the parcel arrives.
Before you order, do three things. Write the name exactly as the school spells it, including a middle name if the class list uses one. Count the letters against the space on the product, because a long name on a small label is the first thing to get crowded. And look at the product photo, not just the title, so you know what the finished item looks like. On the clicker charm, the initials are made exactly as you type them, so check them twice.

When a name isn't worth paying extra for
If a gift is going to be used once, like a party favour, a name is a nice touch but it isn't the reason to pay more. Save the personalising for the things that go to school every day. That's our opinion, and it's the one we'd give a friend.
How to order in time
Adi's advice on deadlines is short. Write to us early. We can expedite orders case by case, but it isn't something to count on in the last few days before a festival or a birthday. Standard delivery takes 8 to 12 working days, so work backwards from the date. Orders above Rs 399 ship free, and we don't offer cash on delivery.
If you're also choosing a festive gift, our personalised Diwali hampers guide has a picker by age and budget. For a birthday, see personalised birthday gifts for girls, which compares hair clips, bag charms and hampers side by side.
Adi's take: Every personalised good helps in finding and segregating things easily, especially in schools where there are many similar things.
